To promote and celebrate the rich and diverse cultures, traditions, and histories, and to acknowledge the significant contributions of American Indian people.
To educate the general public about American Indians, raise awareness about the unique challenges American Indians have faced historically and presently, and highlight how tribal citizens have worked to overcome these challenges.
To improve communication and create a cohesive campaign for American Indian heritage celebrations and unify schedules of events on military installations within the San Antonio area or elsewhere, as requested by military officials.
To provide American Indian people opportunities to participate, obtain education through scholarships, and exchange tribal traditions; to develop educational materials on American Indian peoples and culture for distribution.
To afford American Indian people every opportunity to be fully engaged with A'Ho, meeting its goals and objectives as stated above.

The Color Guard and Color Guard Auxiliary are divisions within A'ho, who may present or retire the colors at any powwow, non-political event, reception, or presentation, with the event's approval by the Council.
Must have military service as active duty, a reservist, a guard member, or a veteran. Veterans must provide their DD Form 214, Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty, which must indicate either an Honorable Discharge or General Discharge (Under Honorable Conditions).
Candidates with a DD Form 214 indicating Other Than Honorable (OTH) Discharge, Bad Conduct Discharge (BCD), Dishonorable Discharge, or Uncharacterized Discharge or Entry-Level Separation (ELS) will not be accepted into the Color Guard.
A member of the A'Ho Council of Elders, a Society Leader, or a General member in good standing (i.e., dues paid up to date).
To be a member of the Color Guard Auxiliary, the candidate must:
Either be a spouse of a Color Guard member, or
Military persons (former or active duty, reservists, or guard members) who meet the criteria of Color Guard membership.
A member of the Council, Society Leader, or General member in good standing (i.e., dues paid up to date).
A General Membership individual may submit an application to join the Auxiliary. The Council of Elders must approve the individual to be a member.
